Gary Hughes Surgery

Latest Update from Elizabeth:

Glad to share that Gary Moo continues to feel better each day and his recovery is coming along nicely. Assuming all goes well today and after testing tomorrow morning, he should be released tomorrow afternoon. That’s when his home healthcare kicks in (me) which will not include the Ferrari videos and chocolate cake with lunch which he has been enjoying at Inova.

"Gary won’t be able to drive for six weeks. He’ll be delighted with any distractions - calls, texts, visits, outings. If you’d like to visit, please let one of us know ahead of time as he will have a number of home health visits, PT and Dr. appts. I’ll be home with him for at least the next two weeks.

We are incredibly thankful for all the support, positive thoughts and prayers we’ve received. "

It's probably a good idea to move the hone numbers to the private section. These have probably already been scraped, but let's not take any chances.

Moo - very glad to hear you're doing well. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help with the recovery.

I think as a group we should send him some cow bells to wear around his neck so if he wonders off Elizabeth can find him.

Smart move, thanks.

If anyone needs phone numbers, text me.

Or aggravate her with them when he wants her to bring him something.

This is good news. Welcome to the "Zipper Club" Chipper! Got a cow valve myself from Fairfax 2 years ago. Do the walking and the breathing exercises! Then sign up for 6 weeks of 3 a week rehab sessions. Those folks really know what they are talking about.

Got back home from the hospital late yesterday afternoon, and all some the new body parts are working well. Brain functions don't seem to have improved at all, but accomplishing that was probably an insurmountable medical challenge. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes - they meant a lot to Elizabeth and me.

The bad news - I have no leverage whatsoever at home. Can't drive for about 6 weeks and need help with lots of stuff. Elizabeth has made it crystal clear she's holding all the cards. Can't even ring the bell I got to call for service or I "lose one privilege." Cripes! And in the hospital, the nurses were always asking, "Is there anything else you need? Can I get you anything else?" At home . . . . well, you get the picture (actually Elizabeth's taking great care of me).

Anyway, thanks again for the kind words. And if I stay away from that damn bell, I may get a ride to the VI on Saturday.

Moo

Chipper ^Moo,

Glad to see your sense of humor appears to have survived intact - that's the most important organ!

I hope your rehab goes along perfectly.

Best,

Tom & Kay

It's a wonder anyone was concerned about your brain function. There is not much to lose if you're starting from the bottom. See you Saturday.

Glad to hear that you are doing well. Follow all the rules - especially the Contessa's!

Glad your back at home Chipper, pretty soon you'll be back in the saddle with the CACC misfits!

I go on the road for a couple of weeks and Gary gets a bovine parts upgrade?
Wow - great news that all went well, just reach out if you need any heavy lifting done!
