Bird's FFR Coupe-R Build Thread

I'm looking forward to watching you transform your vision to reality. Thanks for taking the time to document your progress.

Car should get here in July. I'll spend the next two months getting the engine / trans all setup and assembled. Then I'll sit, drink beer and look at it until the kit gets here.

Doug, do you know if sw has "No Lift Shift" function? Hitting the rev limiter is not fun in the Coyote.

WOW O0 ...please keep us posted with photos of the build...maybe start a separate thread?
Good idea. I'll just rename this one and call it the build thread.
If you have some dry white wine and ice, I'll be glad to help you sit and drink.
Deal - I need to have you out to see the garage anyway.

Don't know yet. But I don't think I'll need it. I've changed gears the old fashioned way my whole life so it shouldn't be a problem for me.

One more picture. Got the IRS rear loaded with the 3.73 and Torsen diff. I was hoping to be able to score this and lucked out that Mike Forte actually had one. You can't find them anywhere. I think the first thing I'm going to do is hang this thing up and paint it with POR 15. I think it has been sitting for a while and it looks like it needs it.

Looks like the sw in that engine module does not include any features that are in mustang gt, only basic fuel/cam/timing curves. Good news is it does not have speed limiter (~155mph) enabled. Hp/Tq is usually quoted at 93 octane, but still leaves some meat on the bone with 93 octane dyno tune and especially if you go E85. Again stay off rev limiter. I actually installed shift light after being embarassed when suddenly going from in front of someone, to looking at their bumper. These engines rev very fast.

Did that diff come with the yoke adapter, can't tell from pic. You have a manual trans fsctory yoke vice an auto yoke for reference. If you wanted a used diff you can find a few on ebay, especially since they came in all PP1, PP2, Bullit, Mach 1 and GT350's. I would ask FFR if they recommend a diff cooler (or trans cooler) similar to GT350/Mach 1 , for track use. Mustangs have problems, but could be crowded IRS and fact that exhaust runs right next to diff.

Yes it did. I have a manual transmission so that should work out well for me.
What Model TKX trans did you get? I assume it's the one with the RR ratios.
I actually got a T-56 so I get the shorter 5th and the taller 6th gear for the highway.

UPS delivered my new lightweight ACT flywheel yesterday, so I'm ready to start assembling.

Doug, if you don't like all the adapters for driveshaft to rear, here's a potential alternative from Dennys Drive Shaft Shop.
