Building a Coupe

It is early for this one but... If you guys have suggestions for a paint shop I'd love to hear them. I'm a long way from that point since the car doesn't even get here until July. I've heard great things about the guy in NC that everyone goes to but... I hear he is backed up for years and I would really like to work with someone more local if at all possible.

So your not going to look into the Voodoo engine on Ebay, be fun on the track :coolsmiley:

The above Voodoo comes with all the accesories, a/c, power steering and duel disc clutch, even heater plumping, and built for the track and you can probably sell the long tube headers for a good price and you wouldn't have to get a tune O0

And i'm sure FFR would be interested in install (probably same as gen 2 Coyote). You would be the first install of a Voodoo in a Daytona Coupe or Cobra roadster. And the ebay engine looks complete at similar costs. And the sounds, imagine sidepipes!

Already bought my first part/tool for the build. Bought this cool Coyote engine cradle and it just showed up today.

@InProcess I think I'm going to shy away from the Voodoo engine. I did a little digging on it. There some discussion that the GT350 using a lot of parts to deal with the flat plane crank (vibration, etc) that wouldn't come naturally to the FF car. For what I'm doing, I'd rather have this thing be rock solid so I'm thinking the Gen 3 Coyote setup is tried and true. Performance on the track still shouldn't be an issue. And even if it is (which I think is unlikely), there are things I can do to it pretty easily to make up for it. So I think I'm going to play it conservative (relatively).engine_cradle.jpg

Doug,

If I recall correctly, the GT3 was, at that time, in the midst of one of its agricultural excursions...

It was the Grand course and neither one of them knew where they were supposed to be, but of course that doesn't matter to either, they just cut across the grass. Just one cut to many. In their defense, I went out with an instructor to see what the track looks like at speed since it was my first time on the Grand course and instructors (yes multiples) were doing agricultural excursions as well.

In Joe's defense, he stayed on track, while I took a shortcut across the grass on a section of the track that is only used for the Grand Course.
He slowed up to observe my stupidity and ended up being in my way when I reentered the track. BTW, I did have one ride with the head instructor in his 911-GT2 .
BTW, this episode was filmed by a Porsche that was behind me. He showed that film at the driver's meeting, so we were the object of derision the rest of the weekend.
