Is anyone in the club alive?

There has not been a post since July 5th. I know we are getting older and less active in our daily lives and the dearth of Cobra events being held but as Magruder always says " It is not the cars but the people". Check-in every once in awhile and just let us know everything is good and you can post about your grandkids if you have nothing else to contribute. Have a great weekend.

I'm here Larry!...Too hot outside to be in the Cobra or garage, neither have AC.... Basement does though, so I just finished a quick five lapper around Silverstone (P4 behing Gasly!)

Larry, glad to hear your still kick'n. Its times like this you miss forum poster like Wade, Herb, BJ, Doc and even Ben's short stories. 20 years is a long time. OBTW life does get in the way and I also try to spend more time with my grandkids as they are growing up way to fast. Post your grand kids as well!

Well...thanks for asking. Since I'm mostly just a memory to the original club members, it seemed appropriate to just pleasently lurk rather than post. But, since you asked...

Yes, I'm still alive and still living in Santa Fe, and also on my wife, Anne's, ranch about 50 miles from town.
But, I do miss my 10 "Cobra years." That's my red one in the middle of the CACC website banner. (thanks Scott)

I've spent the last 1.5 years learning how to be retired. Just recently I've figured it out. After 40+ years in the legal business, I retired from my last and only "real job" --working 12 years with the state government. I then switched from weekend warrior to full-time ski instructor for the past two 6-month seasons. I've been a pro musician for about 50 year s and that occupies a few evenings each week.

Anne and I, with our dog Opie, spend as much time as possible camping and hiking in the National Parks. We have a lot of vehicles, so I still turn a wrench, daily.

Thanks for allowing be to maintain emeritus membership. We still DON'T have club rules...right?

That's still one of my favorite paint jobs! Not leaving the banner as long as I have something to say about it! :knuppel2:

Thanks for posting this Larry.
Yes, sadly, the original members have shrunken as you can see, from this thread: http://www.capitalareacobraclub.com/index.php?threads/fallen-cobra-drivers.14274/

At 78, age has taken its toll on me. Working in the garage is no longer a labor of love but a necessity of maintenance and repairs.

However, I'm still enjoying my retirement (now going on 24 years!).
Recently returned from a trip to the USVI with the extended family....

Yes, 2 of them. Maeve (13) in striped shirt, Zayne (15) in Plaid shirt.
The other boy is Jon's girlfriend's son.

Still alive over here in MD. Can't believe how many years since we started this club. I must have been a teenager :coolsmiley:
Rarely drive the car anymore, especially not in heat like this summer. Do miss seeing old friends; 7 months since New Years Day run.

I’m here Larry,
just stopped posting because of bad interests. But here it goes.
Cobra is drivable but still requires more bodywork and frame support repairs. Talked to Mark Dougherty from Pa. He and I chatted at the London Cobra Show last June and will help me finally fix my ride. Then soon after get painted.
Still drive along the Bay and building up the miles. Currently at 98.1k on the odometer and still running strong.
Working here at Pax River NAS has been an eye opener for me, especially being all Air Force. This week, I will be presented my 30 year certificate in Federal Service. Which might mean my retirement is closing in soon… maybe.

I have a few friends down here who own Cobras most do not want to be apart of a club or organize to participate in cruises. There are two club members down here near me, sighted 3 cobras, 4 if I include the mystical silver and silver stripe one that shows up like a ghost ship during heavy fog!

Down where I’m at we have Cars and Coffee (lack of or byoc) every other Sunday at the Hobby Lobby parking lot. If the weathers perfect it’s been reported to have 650 cars. Happened on the season opener. Every Wednesday from 5-8pm, there’s a cruise in in Leonardtown Arby’s parking lot. Brings in a descent crowd of cars and people.

This weekend there’s boat races near the Leonardtown docks, my good friend will be racing his boats. Should be neat to watch.

Photo is from this year’s LCS.
I got to know the VP and the Treasurer of the Ohio Cobra Club, as well as the President of the Texas Club. Wonderful people.

I’m staying alive. Right now I’m in my garage watching Olympics and staring at my cars. Happy to have A/C in there.
As far as car things go, I go to Watkins Glen 3 times a year. 3 or 4 times a year I go to Goodwood and whenever possible, I’ll go to Pebble Beach in August..
One of these days I’ll try to put something together in Watkins Glen as a club event.
Stay in touch.

I’m new to the group and on the younger end of the age demographic, and my 8 year old son and I would love to meet with the cobra community regularly and participate in events. We go to Bethesda Cars and Coffee most Saturdays.

Would any of you like to find a time to do a CACC meet and/or cruise sometime soon?

Also, would there be any interest in doing a CACC parade group at next years DC July 4 parade? The local mustang group did it this year and had about 12 show up. I think that sounds like a neat experience. Here’s a photo I took with my kiddo:
