UPDATE 12/31:

THE TURNOUT HAS BEEN OVERWHELMING AND WE HAVE H
MOVED OR LUNCH RESERVATION TO THE UNION STREET PUBLIC HOUSE. SCROLL DOWN TO PG 2 TO SEE THE DETAILS.

Hector and I ran the proposed route for the New Years Day cruise.
Detailed directions and maps are included below Essentially is similar to some we've done before.
Weather permitting, here's the route.:

Cooper School,
McLean Va Leave @10 am
Clara Barton Parkway/Canal Rd/Whitehurst Fwy/Rock Creek Pkwy/Independence Ave) to DC (GW parkway is still a construction disaster)
First Stop at Tidal Basin Parking lot (Maine Ave SW, DC)
Second Stop at the Capitol West Parking (Penn Ave @3rd st NW, DC)
Third Stop at Pierce Mill, Rock Creek Park Grove 1 (3998 Spring of Freedom St NW, DC-Bathrooms available)
Lunch Stop at Chadwicks, Old Town Alexandria (203 Strand St. Alexandria, VA). Arrival @ ~1:30 pm

Assuming 1/2 hour stops at Tidal Basin, The Capitol and Pierce Mill, we should arrive at Chadwicks around 1:30 PM where we have reservations.
There is parking across the street (strand St) and 1 block west (Union St).

If you plan on doing the cruise, PLEASE POST IN THIS THREAD. Please include your name and any passengers. Please let us know where you're joining the cruise.
Also LMK if you're not going to Lunch.

>Detailed Maps and directions to follow.
>The route is scenic and include parkway but also city streets with traffic lights.
>I highly recommend you use your GPS and insert the way points.
>Undoubtedly, we will get separated and you won't be able to follow the car in front of you. Even if you do, he may have already made a wrong turn.

I'm in with a passenger (my grandson Rowan). We will start with the group at Cooper School. We will also do lunch. Thanks.

Depending on the weather, I'M IN FOR THE CRUSE AND LUNCH.
BEAR IN MIND, THAT THE PARKING LOT JUST ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE RESTAURANT COST $15.00, WELL WORTH IT SINCE YOU WILL NOT BE DRIVING AROUND OLD TOWN LOOKING FOR A PARKING SPOT.

Please note, I've attached maps and detailed directions you can print out. I still suggest you use a GPS to insert each stop in case you get separated or lost. I can guarantee we will be split up due to traffic lights and other stupidity. :idiot2: :tickedoff:DIRECTIONS.jpg

I'll be there in spirit, 490 miles south on my 46th annual New Years Day ride with the top down.

Maybe one year I'll head north

I am in pending weather. Still trying to talk my son in law into going with me. The ride home after the restaurant was brutal.
