Our first poll! Should our username be our real name? Or should everyone be "compelled" to list their full name in their signature?

FYI - if you think it's a good idea to use your name in your username but you don't have it that way currently, DON'T re-register. I'm pretty sure I can modify usernames of existing users.

Any chance for a third choice?

How about a third choice that your real name, location, and e-mail address should at least appear in your profile?

- Jim -

PS - and to quell any fears of info getting into the wrong hands, is there a way to lock out the public from viewing the membership profile area?

There ya go. But the "Interests" field is about the only place it can go. I don't think I can add a name field as an option.

Why can't you use "real name" instead of the "ICQ number" field?. (Whatever that is.) :?

Tried the ICQ field and for some reason it doesn't want to display down low...so, I added a custom title for anyone who doesn't have their name as a username. Hopefully that will solve the problem. It's in an easy place to find and it's not too much trouble to add it.

Scott,
It's the area displayed under my username. I put in "Scott Brooke" for mine. It shows up in the profile but not in the member list. It's actually a custom field that I have to set manually. Normally you would have rankings there. On cobraforum.com it's similar to the "4-cylinder", "V8" field. Since we are just a small group I don't mind doing it. The only way real names are going to show up on the member list would be for everyone to make their user names their real names.

I'M NOT CERTAIN WHAT MY REAL NAME IS. I'LL CHECK WITH THE "LITTLE VOICES" AND GET BACK TO YOU.

ALL SERIOUSNESS ASIDE; I BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE TO SHOW THEIR REAL NAME, CITY/TOWN, AND E-MAIL ADDRESS - SOMEPLACE ON THE FORUM. I BELIEVE THAT IT AFFORDS A LEVEL OF ACCOUNTABILITY THAT KEEPS THE INTEGRITY LEVEL UP AND THE ANTAGONISTIC BS DOWN.

I'M ALL IN FOVOR OF ACCOUNTABILITY, WELL, SORT OF, MAYBE, I GUESS.

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY,

SUNDANCE (AND ALL THE OTHER LITTLE VOICES)

THANK YOU,

RODERICK CLARENCE POSKOVOLOTICH III.

We still have a bunch of Mystery Members.
Scott B:
Can't we set up a database or file in the "private stuff" with the full names, address, phone, email, Cobra info. of the members (and anything else that makes sense)? :?:
I understand peoples' need for privacy on a public forum. But for Club purposes, this info should be available to the membership. IMO, if they want to be anonymous, they don't need to be members & they can be non-contributors (view only) on the CACC public forums.

I agree Mr. Harrison..... the data base that we had on yahoo was very useful. In fact, I have maintained a roster on my computer here and updated it from the yahoo data base. A private CACC only data base would be nice.
I don't think we had any real issues with private information that had been entered into the old data base getting misused by our members.

Scott H., I'm curious who you're referring to. I'm pretty sure I put real names in for anyone who didn't have an obvious username. Did I miss someone?

As for the contact database...I'm trying to integrate a package into the forum here. As an alternative we could certainly start a thread in the private area for that info. Each person could post a reply with their info in the correct format. It's not as clean as a database but it might do the job.

My bad....I've fixed both of those. To his credit, Jerry Carlson did add his name to his signature.

I just want to make sure everyone knows, I definately screen anyone that joins. No one gets on here until I know, or another member knows, who they are. I think Wade's referred the most people here and I've asked him to verify every one.

Homeless??

Relatedly, looking at the member list, it appears some of our brethern (Ripper, Dane, Alan, to name a few) have truly fallen on hard times and are presently homeless. Such tragedy! Such saddness! How 'bout at least telling us which overpass you're using to sleep and keep your shopping cart and blankets? Then we can honk as we drive over.

REALLY, REALLY, REAL NAMES

ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT.

I CAN'T STAND THE PRESSURE ANYMORE - - -EVEN THE LITTLE VOICES ARE THREATENING TO FORM A UNION.

I MUST CONFESS - - - MY REALLY, REALLY, REAL NAME IS "NOT" RODERICK CLARENCE POSKOVOLOTICH III.

I HAD HOPED TO MAINTAIN A LEVEL OF ANONIMITY THAT WOULD AFFORD ME SOME PEACE AND QUIET AND A MODICUM OF DIGNITY. I WISHED ONLY TO PARTICIPATE IN A CALM AND UNOBTRUSIVE MANNER. INASMUCH AS MY COVER HAS BEEN BLOWN I SUPPOSE I HAVE NO OTHER RECOURSE. MY REALLY, REALLY, REAL NAME IS: richard milhaus nixon

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY - - C. U. AT THE GREASE-UP
