My college room mate from Southern MD, was lucky enough to get an early 64 1/2 convertible. (His dad was a salesman at Leonardtown Ford)
That was the biggest chick magnet at the time.
I wasn't so lucky, since my parents wouldn't finance a car for me. So I had a 6 year old VW beetle that cost about $300.

I have a soft spot for old VW beetles. I had one in college, stripped the EFI during engine rebuild (imagine that!) and went with dual carbs. Eventually, floor pans started to rust out and got rid of it.
